Charles Revson story, founder of cosmetics giant Revlon, is truly one of rags to riches. " ‎At the time of his death, Revson - a business icon - has increased its small cosmetics shop ‎in a giant world of cosmetics.

The son of a cigar manufacturer, Charles Revson came to our world in 1906, in Montreal, ‎Quebec. His moved to Manchester, New Hampshire when Charles was a child.

After completing high school, he moved to Boston. He got a job as a clothing salesman, ‎then worked for a company selling cosmetics. For 25 years he left his job when he was ‎denied a promotion and decided to start his own business of cosmetics. To do so, brought ‎his brother, Martin, and a cosmetic chemist, Charles Lachman, with him, and together ‎they began Revlon Cosmetics in New York City.

The company was initially funded with a mere $ 300 and specializes in nail polish ‎‎(Charles would test the products in their own nails), the competitive differentiation for its ‎variety of colors that are offered to its clientele, which consisted of classrooms and what ‎was then a new phenomenon, the department stores. Using pigments instead of the usual ‎dyes, the company offered the American woman from a rich appearance nail polish in a ‎greater variety of shades never before possible. Many of the clients of the company ‎throughout the country were introduced to Charles Revlon products personally, that travel ‎by rail to the nation on marketing trips. From there they expanded the product line ‎include Revlon lipstick that matched the colors of their nail polishes, and later introduced ‎perfumes and other fragrances. And in just six years, became a multimillion-dollar ‎company Revlon.
